FUN FACTS: The Banana Split is Over 100 Years Old – As crazy as it might seem, the banana split was created over 100 years ago! A 23-year-old apprentice pharmacist named David Evans Strickler came up with the idea of the banana-based triple ice cream sundae in 1904. It was originally offered to customers for 10 cents, which at the time was twice the price of other sundaes. This treat trend caught on quite well with the college student at Saint Vincent College nearby and has remained popular ever since!
